Gun slings

I recently became aware of the differences between a "gun sling" and a "gun carry strap". I know I must have grown up under a rock. Anyways, no one in my family uses a sling to help steady the rifle while shooting. I am very intrigued in trying this to see if it will help with my accuracy. Anyone have any recommendations on good gun slings? Thank you,

I myself know how to use a sling but I can say I've never used it in the field. I would think that a guy could use either to steady your shot but I prefer to have a strap the holds tight to my clothing and doesn't slip off. When I'm getting set up for a shot I like to lay down or set up on a rock or something similar to get a steady rest rather then the sling. Just my 2 cents. But again I think you could use the strap to steady your shot if need be.
