If the poacher is caught, the fine is $25,000? They can/should increase the reward so one of his friends or family rats him out.

if this was a case like that ................ I would give him kudos for his convictions , then vote to fry him for his crimes.

Hypothetical Situation:

Every time you walk out your back door, the neighbor dog bites the living hell out of you. You would likely stop walking out your back door temporarily.

So you call the neighbor and tell him he needs to do something about the dog because it has been biting you when you leave your house.

You call the neighbor to complain and they say, yeah well I like my dog and so do the majority of my friends and besides, he normally doesn't bite people. So your going to just have to deal with it.

You call the dog catcher. He is unable to catch the dog.

You call the cops. They tell you that they dont handle animal cases to call the dog catcher.

You call the dog catcher again and now they wont take your calls.

You try to talk to the neighbor but he still doesn't want to hear your complaints.

How many days would you sit inside before going back outside?

I would never have bothered to call the neighbor, the cops or the dog catcher. if it bit me while on my own property the dog would die.

if neighbor has problem with that ,they are welcome come over and hash it out(probly not wise , they might meet the same fate as dog did) or they can try to sue if they wish.

would do the same if the griz bit me .

but neither of these are the same as poaching. the hypothetical is self defense.

Not really sure what your dog story has to do with a grizz getting poached on the rez?

Your making the assumption that it was poached based on a 1 page "article" and assuming that it was not shot in self defense based on what?

For all we know it was a similar situation as the neighbors dog.

could have been but since no one is coming forward , assuming poaching is a fairly safe bet. if it was self defense ,why not come forward and say so????????? seems more logical the staying quite and risk being prosecuted . If I had shot it in self defense I wouldn't try to hide it. but that's just me.

it is not unreasonable to expect this to be investigated . nor is unreasonable to expect those investigating to be leaning toward poaching.
without more info there's not much else we can do.
