This backcountry thing is addictive, that's a fact. It can also be expensive as heck too. As much as I'd love to dive into a thousand dollar tent every night, my wife and three kids make that a longshot.
That being said, I like to find the best bang for my buck, and had to brag on a one man tent I picked up. I got my hands on a Eureka Solitaire from Sportsmans Warehouse for $80 and some change. I was a bit skeptical upon unboxing, but had it assembled and up in just a few minutes. I left this tent up for 10 days. During this time, we got heavy rain, 40 MPH sustained winds, and 2" of snow. Not a single stake pulled, and not a drop of water found its way inside the tent.
Of course for $80 there are some downfalls. The stakes are a bit flimsy and I'll upgrade before heading up the mountain in August. There isn't alot of room inside and there isn't a vestibule, but for a high country, "pack it on your back" hunt, it's light, water proof, and I could always put my pack under a tarp outside.
I may post a video in the future of this and some other reviews. Until then, take care and hunt safe!
