My alma mater (USC) held off Nebraska last night in the Holiday Bowl. I am a big SC fan as I played for them back in the day.

USC needs to get some more defensive players. This year they had limited scholarships and lots of injuries on defense. The lost 2 game in the last seconds. Now they have all their recruiting available as the NCAA sanctions are finished. We'll see!!!

Speaking of great games, my Carolina Panthers have finally gotten their act together and in the space of a few weeks have gone from looking like the worst team in the league to again looking like one of the best.

In a game last night for the division title and a trip to the playoffs they completely dominated the Falcons and Matt Ryan, who in the four games prior had been lighting it up. The Panthers did that despite losing the league's 2nd best defensive end to suspension and having an offensive line that starts three undrafted free agents.

Sure, they are only the second division winner ever with a losing record but don't be surprised if they beat Arizona in the first playoff round next week.

I'm a Nebraska native and watched the game. Track Meet!!! Not much defense. USC does have a bunch of young talent and will be good again, soon...... I'm not as optimistic about the Huskers. I'm shocked that they kept the final score within a TD.
