My dad and I are looking at each getting a new GPS for elk hunting here in Wyoming. We want ones that let you see where other people in your party with a gps are just in case we get separated or something. I believe the Garmin Rino gps does this but am not sure. I think that's what they are talking. Any one have any experience with them? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Jeremy

Yes the Rhino series has that. It's like your own personal data link system. You can also send way points to each other via the link. Any time you transmit it updates the postion via GPS then broadcasts it.
We have used them exclusively for elk season here in CO.
Lastly go on ebay and buy a slightly used one. Plenty of good deals on there.

Hi Jeremy, we have also used them in Colorado for Elk hunting, small sized screen, works best line of sight, claims 5 miles, usually less than a mile. Accepts the chips, works well at shorter range. Good luck and God bless

Don't forget also to have it set up properly in the correct channels and 5W selection. I had a 11.2 mile line of sight reception at altitude with an updated postion last year. In the timber though it will have all the same LOS limitations .
