Goshute Mts.

Anyone have any thoughts or experience hunting deer in the Goshutes? According to NDOW site, there isn't much for water there. Looking at backup spots for Area 10 early archery. Is it similar to the Rubies in any way? Are there any access issues? I can't find much in the way of information on this area!

I know of goshutes in area 11. Not sure about 10. I know area 11 is majority indian res.

I was looking at a map and there are the Goshutes in area 10 and Goshute Canyon near Cherry Creek. The Goshute range is near the Nv/Ut border

I thought they were east of kinsley wilderness area. I am not sure if the range runs into 10 without looking at a map

It's up just south of I80 and near the Nv/Ut border...at least I think it's the Goshutes. They mention it in the area 10 deer unit description.

Near as I can tell what google earth calls the goshute mountains is in unit 106 which is considered area 10

I know the antelope can get good out there from what I've heard but other than that if have ever been out there I was too young to be of any help

Maybe the goshute indian res and mt.range are two different areas?

Ok the indian res is south east of 93 all the way into utah. But the range is on the west side of 93. Sorry for the confusion. I didnt realize 10 went over that far.

Yeah most people when they think of 10 automatically think ruby mountains but there's a whole lot more to that area!

I had a buddy hunt around Spruce Mountain to the west the Goshute a couple years back, he wasn't successful but he said he didn't see many other hunters. He wished he had spent more time up there. From the looks of the hunt unit map it looks like this range is mostly wilderness area so if you are willing to put some miles under your boots you might be able to have some success. Getting away from the cluster in the Rubies might not be a bad idea but usually during the archery hunt it isn't nearly as crazy as rifle. Fatrascal lives in the Elko area and is very knowledgeable and helpful, maybe he knows more about this area. Either way I look forward to hearing about your hunt, good luck!
