Depends on what your using it for. They do not zoom so need to be close shots, even deer at 20 yards don't seem close enough. If you can put on a tree or field and run by remote that comes in handy. To film yourself in blind or tree they work really well.

I have filmed a hog hunt and a couple other times in a stand and it is hard to see unless I watch on a 60" tv. The only other decent hunting footage I have is a 9 point that shredded a tree right below me a couple years ago. However, I have some awesome footage from boats fishing but that is up close.

thanks guys. I won $100 from blackovis and was trying to figure out what to put it towards. im thinking a trail camera would be much more useful to me than a gopro. im eyeballing the Moultrie M-888i Mini Trail Camera, for $159. this a good camera?

i was going to check out the brownings but blackovis doesn't carry any. ive been hearing a lot about spy point, they seem to be getting pretty popular.

I agree with Dan. Great for fishing and closeup stuff in hunting but not great mounted to gun or bow for shots. If you go to vimeo and type in Madison River Montana September 2012 it brings up a little trailer I did on iTunes. I like how it does for fly fishing with the bee pattern especially!
Pete I hope you get that little fly rod learners kit. Once it comes in call me and I'll help you put it together...lmbo. Remember reel faces down, it's not a bait caster! Haha

hahaha, I have never ever ever understood why people fish with reel up with any type of spin or fly rod. feels so unnatural to me and seems to take away from the action.

@Ivory, I had a guy tell me once he was a big fly fisherman, had been doing it all his life. I put him in the back of the boat since he was an expert so I could help his beginner buddy. As I was helping his buddy I just happened to turn around while rowing to make sure he was good. When I turned around he had his reel up and was reeling up in reverse. Haha. Told me right there I had two beginners not one. Funny stuff.

you got to love those guys, I just keep waiting for their rod to break when the big one hits! I bought a temple fork spin rod a few years ago, (best spin rod ever) I love this rod! a guy at work seen me ordering it and he wanted me to order him one too. a week after they came in the mail he called me and said the rod was a POS, I was like what in the world are you talking about, you wont find a better spin rod. he said it snapped in half! he said he snagged up on river bottom and it snapped. IDIOT! turns out he had 20, yes 20Lb line on it! I said due, this isn't a sturgeon rod, no more than 6 lb line belongs on it. that was a $200 mistake for him!

Moultrie M-888i Mini Trail Camera: this came in the mail yesterday, I'm excited to check it out! going to put it down on river bottoms this evening and see what she does. nobody goes down to this spot so I'm not worried, but, where I elk hunt ive never seen anyone in my wallow basins but ill be 70 miles from it so it makes me nervous. is it worth getting a cover case for it?
