CC you're truly motivational even without trying. I only hope to be going as strong as you at that age.
I probably hunt too much according to some folks, but I have enjoyed every adventure and don't plan to stop as long as God blesses me with the strength and desire. I've given a lot of thought to hunting as I get older and I think as someone said in a post earlier, I'll just have to adjust my hunting style as need be. Hunting is part of what makes me feel so alive. Each trip even the most exhausting ones, seem to somehow recharge me!
I hope to keep reading your hunting stories and advice for many years!
Thanks

CC - Your reflection to us younger guys is something we should post on our refrigerator....each generation seems to work longer and longer hours and loses sight of the gift of life. I may not make another 30 years, none of us are guaranteed tomorrow, but i will keep your reflection close in my mind during those times i am proned to forget what matters the most. I came close to my last breath in 2009, when i rapidly approached a heart rate of 0 and went into anaphylactic shock on an ER table. With the doctor vigorously shaking me and saying "stay with me, dont you die on me...", i faded out of conscience and had some deep personal thoughts as i faced my fate. They bought me back, i drove to the hotel where i was staying for work on a river in MI and called my wife 2 hrs later. I flew home, spent time with my family and hooked up the boat to go turkey hunt that next morning. I did not feel the need to worry about work....i tend to forget that enlightenment that i was given, that family and memories and God are what matters, not work. I am glad that I started western hunting (sorry for you guys that dont want us NR hunters...). It has kept me in shape into my 40s and i hope it will if i make it my 70s. Our hunting in the south keeps you outdoors and has kept my dad in good shape from all the work he does on the property, but you guys are blessed with the demand of the terrain that keeps you needing to be in shape....

Thanks for your sincere reflection and the reminder that most of us need from time to time. ....I hope I am in your shape if i make another 30 yrs....but i am not gonna regret however much i am given.

Im gonna take a half day tomorrow, train the dogs, hit a trail and regain perspective.

I have been working on this since this thread came out. I think I have gone fishing more this year than I did all of last year already. I used to think that I just didn't have time with work and everything, but if I work a little longer during the week, do a few chores everyday instead of letting them pile up for the weekend, then it turns out I do have extra time to get out more even if its just a couple hours Sunday. I am pretty fortunate to live where I can get out and about to some cool places, and I need to take advantage like the others were saying. I could probably use some more motivation to exercise more, but baby steps, baby steps, lol.
