I have been purchasing elk bonus points for 13 years and more recently preference points for general deer. I have a plan for the elk points but started purchasing the general deer points without much though other than maybe one day on my big LE elk hunt I also could have a deer tag, currently I am at 5 points for general deer. I would like to know what the experts think?

The hunts are two different seasons so unless you plan to hunt your elk before the deer or after the deer hunt you'll have to make a couple of trips.
Most of the LE elk units are open to general deer hunts and a general deer hunt would be a good way to scout and get to know the area that you plan on hunting elk in.
