Is it legal to place a game camera on public land in CO? If so, are there certain requirements. Assuming it's legal, have people had any issues, like cameras stolen? And ultimately was the information useful for hunt?
Thanks.

It is perfectly legal. But don't put anything out there hanging on a tree that you can't afford to loose. I have heard of a number of them being stolen. And in Utah I have heard of the BLM folks picking them up and consider them littering if they are left in a area unattended.

I use them in Co to help confirm or deny animal movement/feeding or hitting wallows/water holes for early season. I've noticed once the human stink is in the woods and muzzleloader shots are fired they don't provide much intel as you really cant pattern them at that point. That's just from what I've seen in NW Colorado.

I use them extensively in Wyoming, especially when bear baiting. But I also use them for deer and elk hunting. Always on public land. I had one stolen a couple of years ago. So, I sometimes hide a second one to watch over the obvious one. If anyone steals my camera again, I'm going to get a picture of the SOBs!
