Pay attention to this one guys, there is a lot happening here with something that we hold dear. It's always good to keep track of our accounts and this just verifies that security is something all of us have to be diligent on.

Just face it, if you do anything on line such as purchasing a license or a tag not to mention on line shopping you should worried about what is going on.

I doubt that there is a system out there that can't be hacked and there are those out there that do nothing all day but try to get into a secure system.

I deal with it, in, and around the cyber world everyday.
Every software program, or network was designed by someone, which means someone knows its weakness.

Greatest piece of advise I give everyone is that you will to some level have your identity stolen, so make sure you have backed up documents, and a great ID theft protection plan.

All the stuff my wife and I do to stop it, we've still had accounts compromised 3 times. All very small, and easy to fix issues, thankfully.

So basically anytime someone I know draws a good tag I will ask if they hacked the system. And if the answer is no then I will blame Russian hackers.

I wrote the "Hacked" article after hearing about the charges in WY for hacking their system and recalling the hacking that included OR, WA and ID. When I read the OR Sec of State audit report on their lack of cybersecurity compliance, that was the last straw.

We haven't had our identities stolen that we know of but we do get people applying for credit in our names and one person did it successfully and charged $1000 at Kohl's before we found out. Another person successfully got our bank account to pay a money order for $900 just after we swiped our card at a fast food place instead of using a chip reader, which I guess can be hacked. When we told our banker, she said she also had that happen and customers have also told her the same experience.

Both times we got the money back, but it is unsettling.

I've had to replace a credit card a couple of times now. It's almost commonplace and no big deal anymore. You notice something strange on your card or often times I've even gotten a text from Capital One asking if I made the purchase. If it's fraudulent, I get a new card and they refund the money. It isn't a big deal. I pay off my card weekly and never carry a balance so I know all the purchases on it.
