I just bought a pair of outdoor research low gaiters, but havnt used them yet. These to be specific.

https://www.rei.com/product/852794/outdoor-research-rocky-mountain-low-gaiters

If they are no good, I can easily take them back. Ive never used gaiters before and I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with these or similar ones, and if you had any other recommendations. Any information on gaiters is appreciated.

Thanks!!

Those will work pretty well, I have had the next size up OR's for years and they have been very good to me.

I have a pair of 10 year old Cabelas gaiters with the goretex lining that come up to just below my knees and they work great. I find myself wearing them all the time even if there is no snow. When the ground is dry they keep stickers and other stuff out of your socks and the many times the dew will soak through your pants in the morning walking through grass or brush.

I used gaiters for the first time this spring while turkey hunting. I will never again be without them.

My pair now is a low set from Cabela's, but I will buy other models as the year progresses.

Thanks a lot for the information! I have been in the high country elk hunting for serveral years without them. Ive always had dew soak my boots and socks from walking through it and wanted to try some gaiters. I bought my dada and I both a pair, and I cant wait to give them a try this fall.

And these are a low pair. I figured for what I need them for, the low pair would be plenty adequate.

I use Kenetrek gaiters. Very happy with them and they are quiet. Mine go just below the knee which I prefer as they help protect my pants from tears. 4-5 seasons on them.

I felt the model I bought at REI and they feel like they wouldn't be too noisy, but they are definitely stiffer than my pants. I don't think I will have any issues, but we will see. I will take a look at the kenetrek gaiters you mentioned.

Im pretty excited to try them. I picked up a pair of soloman quest 4d boots recently to replace my merrels. I think this new setup is going to be dynamite.
