hey all,

I have a cabelas alaskan frame. I don't want to spend a bunch of money on a fancy pack. I just want something that I can put some clothes, food, water and my spotting scope in, plus a few other odds and ends. I want to be able to strap my tripod, shooting sticks and a small chair to the frame, or if i could find something with some long side pockets that would be great. I'll be hiking about 3 miles to my glassing spots. I'm having a hard time finding something to accomplish this and that doesn't cost a lot of money. need to be pointed in the right direction. Help me out, please.

Have you tried looking at used bags? I have an Alaskan ll pack and frame. It is probably outdated, but a lot of meat has been packed out with it and I don't get rid of things just because something new comes out. Having said that, I am sure some of the new set ups would amaze me.

I like the frame, badgerbob, I'm looking for a bag to put on it. I only have the frame.

I picked one up from a surplus store to put on my frame. The one I got was a military bag,I load everything in it then lash it down to the frame with a little rope. If i tag something i got lots of room to haul some meat out with me. Think I spent $25 on the bag.

I ended up getting a big military duffle style with lots of molle attachment points on it. I think it will work perfect for what I need to do. I can stuff a lot of clothing/emergency stuff in it along with a fanny pack for stalking and be able to fit my spotter and other things in it too. Cost..$19

Good buy 83mulligan. I have the same frame and I use it for heavy hauling, but I have thought about doing the same thing you did with the cheap pack. Good luck with the new hauler.

I'll try and post a pic when I figure out how to get it attached and loaded.
