Fishing at Blue Mesa Res

My hunting partner and his family are joining our family on a fishing trip to Blue Mesa Res near Gunnison. Going in late june and planning on renting a pontoon boat and staying in a local rv park.

Looking for experience at Blue Mesa, suggestions, etc.

White tube jig with a stinger hook. Small piece of white sucker meat on the stinger. If able use a graph to find the bait fish. They should be generally speaking spread out and going to shallow water. See lure in the mouth for the bait.

White is good pearl is better.. Why, red salmon or the fresh water version " Kokonee" salmon are bright silver when they are fingerlings and reflect and some refract light ... Pearl does this very well at deeper depths. Also, in Alaska once we would catch a lake trout we would cut out his eye ball and put it on the hook too. We would catch double the fish with the eye ball compared to without the eye ball. We would also use latex/rubber gloves to handle the bait to make sure we wouldn't leave any human scent on the lure... Once i learned that secret our catches went way up also...
