Sure did. Thanks to everyone for their advice along the way. I didn't put a bull down but was able to see a couple legal bulls and put a stalk on one of them. I saw tons of elk and many 5x5s and learned a lot while in the field that I can hopefully put to good use in a hunt next year. Thanks again guys and Merry Christmas!

Don't pack elk bones out if the forest. Take the time to bone it out gutless style and hang the meat up. Your back will love you for it.
I'll second that one! Packing out an elk is no small chore and packing out bone (unless it's antlers) just adds to the "sweet misery".

After saying the above, my wife just asked me to pack a few femurs out so she can make a "bone marrow broth". I'll gladly do that for her, but you guessed it - she's never packed an elk out before! :)

My initial thought was...maybe your wife should pack a bone out to see what it's like. Sounded crazy.

But then I wised-up, if she let's you go hunting then it's best you ask her how many she wants! Hopefully that soup tastes good and she wants to make it every year.
