First Elk hunt Archery DIY OTC.

I'm going to attempt my first go around Elk hunting but due to the lack of free time from work I have lacked the ability to go spotting and to check out potential areas. I have spent what time I have on the DOW atlas and reading forums. I'm pretty torn about where I want to go, I don't mind hiking to find Elk but at the same time I want to avoid being overcrowded by other people.

So far I have my eye set on 681 around Bonanza, lots of public land but only what I can see on Google Earth. Any other suggestions as far as Southwest Colorado? I am trying to avoid Northwest, I know their are quality Elk but LOADS of people.

I had a guy kind enough to share his property with me in San Luis, but it's mainly plains and a tiny possibility of Elk, so i'll probably use that offering for Pronghorn later on.

I can hike all day and carry loads of weight, I am an Infantryman in the Army so my job is to walk and carry the entire world on my back.

I appreciate all the help I can get, i'm not after your secrets and i'm not the guy to get advice than share it with the entire world when it was meant only for me.

Thanks in advance!
