Hey Guys,

After three years of trying in the lower mainland British Columbia I finally got my first columbia blacktail. I have half a dozen sitck's under my belt but this is the first columbia. It was a backpack stillhunt. I packed him out about 5kms. I am no expert by any means but if anyone has any questions I am more than happy to try to answer them.

That's awesome! I have a friend who hunts blacktail on Vancouver island and he gets some nice ones.

What elevation do you hunt? BC has some nasty thick country

This area is about 6000ft. Pretty dens timber but this particular stand was some nice decadent old growth so you could at least see 50-75m in a given direction. Normally the steeper and shittier the ground gets the closer to deer you are getting :)

Congrats on the hard earned buck! I have hunted blacktails lots on the island, mainly around comox and love chasing those elusive little buggers. Well done man!
