Firewood

Has anyone ever burned wood from tamarisk trees commonly known as salt cedars? There is a bunch, like probably a cord of 8-10 inch diameter logs the local power company cut away from the powerlines a couple of years ago so I'm sure they are nice and dry. I just don't want to load it all up if it has a funky smell or something when it is burned.
Any thoughts?

Never burned salt cedars, but have burned cedar. Cedar burns very clean with little ash.

Great kindling.....they don't smell near as bad as the old school creosote soaked stuff.
