All right pyros, here is your chance to tell us what you use for a fire starter.

Let's hear it, I am sure there are some great tricks that all of you have that we can learn!

On pack trips we use wax paper in the mornings and it works incredibly well. it burns long and great to get a fire going when you have other things to be taking care of. . Otherwise I personally love pitch wood if your in an area that it is readibly available its the best natural fire starter available. In hunting camp we pack in sawdust cubes on a mule which weigh nothing, then mix them with diesel and it gets a fire going in a cylinder stove immediately which is great when I can light it in my clients tent and walk away to continue saddling.

I carry an old Rx plastic bottle full of cotton balls impregnated with vasaline, use a propane cig lighter to light them. They burn like hell.

^^^^Me to, except lately I have stuffed the Vaseline cotton into a straw and sealed both ends like Rockchuckar.

I use an old can of chew and the exact same cotton ball method!!! CC we have more in common than one would think
