I am hunting in Wyoming in October for Antelope. We are staying in a wall tent with a wood burning stove for our heat source. If there is a fireban can I still used a wood stove or do I need to find other mean?
Sometimes they allow wood stoves with 1/4 inch screen on top of the chimney and other times they are totally banned. You would be best to call either BLM or Forest Service to find out
Campfires/Fire rings/ Charcoal grills and cigarette smoking outside buildings or vehicles were all banned this summer...as was welding/cutting. Not sure about now, but as dry as it's been...probably still is. You should be able to find out online. G&F property still has a fire ban. County regs differ.
Click the links on this page for BLM restriction right now. They state enclosed sheepherders type wood burning stoves are ok with a spark arrestor installed on pipe. You stove will be ok with the spark arrestor on BLM lands.
Forest Ranger told me last week that if there is a fire ban what ever means you are using to cook or heat needs the ability to turn off with a knob or switch.
On the National Forest wood stoves are included in a fire ban or restriction but not on BLM lands.
Call the regional office to get the correct info either NF or BLM. Counties can also put bans in effect as stated above, best to call the local fire authorities.
Check before you come out as things can change with rains.
