The time has finally arrived and I finished my 6.5x68mm build.

1909 Argentine M98 action
Kreiger #1 contour 1-8.5" 5R finished at 25"
Wildcat ultralight stock
Timney trigger
Vortex Razor HD LH scope with the 3-15x42 G4-BDC reticle
All metal parts coated matte black
Gunsmith was Kevin Weaver of Weaver Rifles

As it is pictured weighs 8 lbs 4 oz. I've already removed the sunshade, not sure I liked it.

Dang, that is nice.

Why is the scope so high? Does that for you well? I struggle in the opposite direction with getting my scope low enough for a consistent cheek weld.

The scope is a touch high, but it is needed to ensure easy clearance of the bolt throw. Believe it or not, the scope sits perfectly with the stock and my shooting habits. I can close my eyes throw the rifle up, open eyes, and see a clear sight picture.

I have a custom .300 Wby that has a commercial mauser action. I also have 3 rifles that either are sporterized 03 Springfields or a custom wildcat with a o3 action.Springfield 003.jpg220 Imp Swift with Chrono.jpg

I built them all myself and they doooo shoooot!

Very nice! Thanks for sharing!

I've also put together the parts and pieces for a 404 Jeffery on a 1917 Enfield, but I got sidetracked with these x68 builds.

So just a little longer case than a 26 Nosler? What are the other differences? My dad gave me his .264 several years ago. Always been partial to the 6.5s.

That's all that matters. Beautiful rifle.

This cartridge and the 26 Nosler are very similar with some slight differences. The 6.5x68 is slightly longer and the shoulder not as sharp, yet longer than the 26 Nosler. The biggest difference is the 26 Nosler has a slightly larger case capacity. At the base, the 6.5x68 is 0.520" compared to the 26 Nosler at 0.532" and at the shoulder 0.479" to 0.491", respectively.

From a speed perspective, the 6.5x68 should land in between a 264 Win Mag and the 26 Nosler pushing a 130 grain bullet about 3200-3300 fps.

Nice build. Kevin builds some nice rifles. He built my 300wsm and fixed my 280AI. Both shoot quite well

It is 15 miles round trip from my door to his. Stopped by this evening to visit. Such a nice guy to have handy should I have questions.
