My son and I went out for a couple of days for his archery hunt in area 271-272. He didn't have much time due to work. The temp was around 100- 105 during mid day almost unbearable. Saw some nice country, very few tracks and only found the smallest trickle of water, a puddle maybe 6 inches long but something was using it. Could have been deer or bighorn sheep.
Not someplace we would archery hunt again.
Saw first hand the Paunsagant area of Arizona and can certainly understand how some of those deer grow to be giants in that desolate country.DSCN1252.jpgDSCN1255.jpgDSCN1256.jpgDSCN1253.jpgDSCN1254.jpg

That's some hot weather.. I'd like to hunt that country some day, but maybe in cooler temps.

Better luck next time!

Had a buddy hunt that last season. He said he found a few good bucks. Never did kill out. But it takes a lot of work to find them. He said the biggest buck he found was a local heartthrob. He ran into 2 other groups of guys hunting that said "did you see the big one yet?" Goes to show, not a lot of deer. I would assume the latest rifle tag would be the time to hunt it.
