I headed to kotzebue. I'm sitting in anchorage heading out tomorrow morning, just had lunch with akaviator, thanks for dinner. I had the greatest experience ever didn't see hardly any caribou but saw 4 wolves 1 bull moose 1 griz 1 black bear. I thought I would be upset if I didn't get anything but it was such a great experience it didn't get to me about killing anything. But I will tell u that I'm headed up there next year and won't quit till I get a caribou and moose. You all needed to experience alaska at least once if u can do it. If any one wants info about it talk to akaviator, he has lots of great advice and a great guy or pm me I will help out as much as possible. I will be posting a gear review of the things I used and have a link to all the pics I took. Yes those swaro el's are the best I love them.

Glad you had a good time! It can definitely get in your blood. That's pretty cool you met up with AKaviator, the hunting community is full of a lot of good folks that's for sure.

I am glad you had a good time and put a successful trip in perspective. People come up here thinking it is the land of plenty, inwhich it is not, except for bitting bugs & ice. It probably has the least game densities per square mile of any state. If a guy is caribou hunting timing is everything and can go the whole trip & not see one. The western artic heard is on a great decline about 60% from 6 years ago and they are starting to migrate later in the year. Alaska is the last great wilderness in the USA. There is no place in the lower 48 that even holds a candle to the vastness & true wilderness that Alaska has.
