I was wondering if anybody had any input on how these general elk hunt areas (60,70, and 71) might be for a non-resident DIY?

I realize the wilderness areas are off limits.

If you respond, please do so by PM. Any info. is appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks.

I have elk hunted Wyoming a few times over the past few years and have some decent knowledge of a few limited entry areas. However, I can't hunt those areas next year because the dates conflict with another commitment I have next year. I am trying to find a place to rifle hunt elk in Wyoming in September to avoid this conflict. These general areas all have September opening dates and would not cause a conflict if I did about a week long hunt starting on the opener.

The amount of non-wilderness in 70 and 71 is quite small and may be non-existent in 60, but I figured I would at least take a good look at the possibility.

From what I know those units have alot of wilderness and have been hit pretty hard by wolves. Its hard to find a good september rifle hunt that doesnt take alot of points to draw.

The special draw is to much money for me for a general tag. I prefer to save points and hunt OTC in CO or ID if all else fails.
