Looking at cashing in my points next year and am looking at a couple unit's. I was thinking about the following units, but have never stepped foot in any of them. 11,35,38,40 I also know deer season opens at the same time for these units.

So when I was thinking 38, I know they have more tags then the other units, but also more roads and trails that could be used for recreation as well as hunters.

40 don't know much about other then less tags, less roads, less elk area

35 has some wilderness that is off limits to me, but do have a buddy that hunted it in 2015 and him and his group all tagged out, so I have a little incite there on where they hunted.

11, small unit not a lot of tags

I will be out in WY first week in Sept and was planning on doing some scouting. Just looking for some incite from anyone who has experience in any of these units, pro's/cons.

You'll be out for the opening week of elk season so maybe watch where you go to scout. Keep it to roads.
Sometimes less tags means better hunting not less elk.
Are you looking for an archery tag, if so look at some type 9. If you can draw one they may have the best early archery elk hunting.
If you can get a rifle tag for an Oct. 1 opener I would not sweat the deer opening at the same time. Rifle hunting elk at the end of the rut is a good chance at a great bull.

Are U looking at the type 9 or type 1? Since U have sum intel on 35.. U mite lean that way.. If Ur friends are non residents.. Than the wilderness wasn't a factor.. Keep in mind that sum of the units U listed.. The type one tag holders.. Can bye a archery tag and hunt.. Starting the 15 of September.. I think 40 and 38.. Is type 9 only.. Good luck..
