Getting ready for elk season for first time. Hiked our highest peak in 64 minutes, 3.44 miles and over 1000 ft of elevation gain. Going tomorrow to do the 6 mile trip up.

I'm about 3k feet short. Planning on being around 10k feet for hunt. Hiking 12 miles a week at 7000 ft and spending 3 days in July scouting and hiking my unit in Colorado. Hiking now with 25 lb pack and will be up to 75 lb pack in a month without any further complications liked a sprained ankle again.

You will be in great shape for sure. Good luck on your hunt and take lots of photos with a camera and not your cell phone.

Little devils tower, cathedral spires and harney peak. Rained soaked us on way down. My 10 yr old boy kept up and we had nice lunch and break at top.

That is some pretty country ninja! Down here our highest peak is around 800 feet. It makes those first few days on the mountain a little tougher no matter how much I run. Good luck on your hunt!
