Does Wyoming offer a party tag for elk?

I have 10 points and a buddy has 12. I wanted to put us both in together to try and draw tags this year in hopes his extra 2 points more then I have will help.

I actually like Colorado's system of using the low point holder.

That keeps the person with a lot of points away from putting in with a person with low points just so that the low person can draw.

I also like the way that states are going in that if 2 or more put in for a group tag and then one turns their tag in that all of them have to turn their tags in.

Hunting out west here is coming to a hunter eat hunter type of thing in the draws. Way too many applicants are finding ways to game the system.

It also keeps people from finding random strangers with high points to share so they can hunt certain units every year. This seems to happen in G and H every year.

Now correct me if im wrong but in Wyoming, if I don't draw my 1st choice hunt, but end up getting my 2nd choice hunt I keep my points even tho I got to hunt?

Correct, but remember that your 1st choice is active in the random draw and you have a new random number there so dbl check those odds.

I can see your point of view JimP. However, an unlucky few, get burnt. For example, I have 6 deer points and my FIL has 2. It would be nice to hunt a 4PT unit for a better hunt. But we'd get stuck with a 2Pt hunt in Co. So I either hunt alone or stop buying deer points until he catches up a bit as I don't want to lose the money or the opportunity. I know it's tough to design a system fair to everyone at this point unless you went total random. But even that has a catch, as it is tough to plan around as with some states and PP (WY) I know my odds. Perhaps not 100 factual, but have a good idea at first blush. Pro/Con to every rule.

Merry Christmas my friend.

I get that. Like most things, things get abused and bonus point systems are no exception.

I don't know if guys can still do this in AZ, but I've heard of guys doing this in the past: 1 guy has 16 points and another guy has 2, they would apply together for a late rifle elk hunt and draw. Then the guy with 16 points turns his tag back in and keeps his points while the guy with 2 points get a sweet tag and screws everyone else along the way...

Like I said, I totally get where you're coming from. I'm in the exact same boat when it comes to CO. Unless you and a friend both start from 0, it's really hard to pair up with someone who has a different number of points.
