Elk hunt New Mexico GMU 16D

My first successful New Mexico elk draw since 2009. I get to enjoy a Quality, High Demand, Mature Bull hunt in a prime area equipped with two tags with my 16 year old son. I got my first choice on the draw, and it happens to be one of the most desirable hunts in NM. Game Management Unit 16D in southwest NM near the Arizona boarder. I spent a lot of years deer hunting in New Mexico with my dad, but we have never bagged. I hope to show my son how to be successful this season.

Congrats on your hunt last year! I was wondering how things turned out on your hunt, I was lucky enough and drew the tag this year for 16D. First time hunting in New Mexico unit A6. I drew an archery tag for September 1st thru 14th. Can anyone give me any pointers on where to hunt, if anyone knows any guides and if I need an ATV.
