Ear Protection

Hey guys, anyone have some good suggestions for ear protection for the waterfowler? Looking for something that allows me to hear incoming birds but muffle muzzle blast without costing me a second mortgage. Glad you're bringing this up. I know people that are hard of hearing and it's a real pain. For a hunter to damage his hearing is an even bigger deal.

Walker has a very good reputation. Here's an earbud style that reduces muzzle noise by 31dB, a good bit more than most others you can find, it enhances soft sounds and at $119, not going to break the bank. I'm a hardcore waterfowler. Been using ESPAmerica's aid's since the late 90's. Upgraded to digital several years ago. They're so comfortable, I wear them deer and elk hunting and usually forget they're in. Regarding cost, I always say its your hearing, what's it worth.

Wish I would have worn ear protection back when I was a teenager. We used to shoot our magnum rifles at targets and then our ears would ring for days. I'm sure all the rock concerts didn't help either because our ears would also ring for days after.
I do wear it now, guess it's better late than never.

I think I am going to give the Surfire's a test run on September 1st when the dove season opens here. I will get you guys a report and let you know what I think. For less than $20 I am hoping for the world but we will see.

This seems to be a tough price point from what my research has provided. Look at the passive options like Surefire, etc. For less than $100 it's probably about the only option. Let me know though if you come up with anything different, would love to know about it.
