Question is the re-entry of wolves a round about way to disarm Americans ? If the wolves get to a point where they drastically reduce game herds, and it gets to a point where you're chances of filling atag are under 1% and gas prices and inflation continues on its path how many sportsman will just quit hunting, then the trickle down effect sporting goods sale plummet to the point business start going under.

...or it could just be people that didn't know better wanted to see wolves.

I am sure the collateral effect of wolves reducing hunter opportunity didn't hurt the feelings of many of the wolf proponents.

The disarming thing sounds like a stretch to me.

Funny thing though, they actually gave us something else to hunt... and trap:

http://missoulian.com/news/state-and-regional/wolves-taken-by-trappers-rifle-season-ends-march/article_0b480602-c1a2-11e4-bec3-2f00566efadb.html

127 shot and 77 trapped. Good numbers to look to beat next year.

I was watching the " Meat Eater " a while back and they cooked a coyote so a guess a wolf would not taste much different ! But back to your original question, it seems we have reached the point most of what the government does raises suspicions as to what the motivating factors are ?

I thought it was just automatic that anything done by the government during a democratic administration must be bad. Thet seems to be the general consensus.

When Old Tobey led Louis & Clark out of Lolo Pass, they were starving, and quickly learned that dog was their favorite food. They never did eat Seaman though. That was the name of their dog, not well, you know.

Trusting the government is just a naive philosophy regardless of party affiliation.
"Trust but verify" is a good proverb except when it comes to a democratic administration the phrase can simply be shortened to "verify" as they cannot be trusted.

why does the wolf concern you?

If I was to believe what I read on this forum, I should never get my elk here in north Idaho. To many wolves, yet I saw more bulls last season, than in years.

I imagine Louis would have killed anyone that even tried to touch his Newfoundland with the intention of eating him.

Not to mention the western states banding together to try to take over Federal lands, BLM, NF. And selling them off to developers. ranchers, energy companies. The low % of tag filling and fuel prices will be a moot point, if there's no access to hunt DIY. You won't need your guns, to hunt animals anyway.
