Denver area fishing

I'm leaving for Denver next week, and will be out there for about 2 weeks. I'll be working the entire time, but I should have evenings free, and weekends as well. Was hoping to find the time to maybe do a little fishing in the evenings.
I was perusing the CO fishing atlas, and it looks like there may be some opportunity on the Platte, but I'm not really sure of access..
I'm really not sure what the weather will be like, and if there's any fish to even be caught within an hour or so of South Denver (Lone Tree area). Access would have to be decently easy (can't be strenuous for the wife). We'd be more than happy to go catch palm sized brook trout, if that was our best option.
I hate to ask for spots, and certainly understand if folks are hesitant to share.. but, if any one has any thoughts on some easier to access streams that we could fish, I'm all ears. I'm not taking waders out there, but could find the room for rubber boots..
Just looking to kill some time outdoors while we're out there cooped up for 2 weeks. there's a few local reservoirs that will probably fit the bill, but, the solitude of a creek might be kinda nice.

Thanks in advance fellas.

My first advise would be for you to head to the Lone Tree Cabela's and go into the fishing section and ask them. The Cabela's is located just off of I-25 as you head south towards Colorado Springs. I don't remember the exit number but you can't miss it.

The majority of my fishing spots are still covered in ice and snow and the rivers are a little bit murky.

I was worried about this.. Maybe it'll improve towards the end of my trip. Worst case scenario, some of the local lakes look like they have some nice parks that I could hang out in.

The front range is almost a totally different animal than where I am on the Western Slope. They'll be into a nice spring and almost summer conditions by now. That is where I suggested to check in at Cabela's. Or you can check at a Sportsman's Warehouse where they have a poster board with fishing conditions. There is a new store in Sheridan just to the north west of Lone Tree. You can get a map of where the store is located at by going to their web site. There are some nice reservoirs around Denver that offer some great fishing but they are mostly State Parks where there is a $7.00 daily entrance fee.
