Had anyone used these deformed. Parden me for not searching I'm at work, my fiance has a heart attack whenever I'm in the Mts without service, with this is be able to send a text out if I need to chase dogs over night
They are pretty slick, and work damn good. If your talking about chasing hounds...and how a chase can quickly go from short and sweet to long, it would be a pretty handy thing to have. You can send location spots to someone so they know where you are, along with being able to send and receive texts.
Yeah often no cell service and be nice to let people know I was headed into a tree or to call dogs out, and them not think I fell of a cliff somewhere.
The InReach SE works great if all you want to do is send and receive text messages. You can download an app to your i phone so that you can use your phone to type in your text messages, which makes it a lot easier a quicker. Typing text message on the InReach device takes a little longer. Also, this device has a SOS button in case you have an emergency.
My understanding is that the difference is that the Explorer has the GPS feature.
I have the SE and am very happy with it, since I have a Garmin GPS.
It's also my understanding (based on reading lots of reviews) that the gps function of the Explorer is very crude, when compared to a Garmin.
I have had mine about 3 years now, heavy tree cover and really steep areas can block the signal. sometimes a time delay. works well with my I-phone. battery life is great. I hunt alone so I don't go without it. I activate my plan during season and deactivate it when it is over. I have the SE model. Super tough little things. Good luck and God bless
