Deer Creek Fire

According to the latest map of the Deer Creek fire, it has crossed the border and is now in Colorado . Over 7,000 acres and started near La Sal, Utah. Why am I concerned about it.....well it's now lees than 20 miles from the area I plan to hunt in Colorado that I have a cow elk tag. I am definately going to keep an eye on it as It is now zero percent contained.

All these fires sure have changed the landscape in the last 15 years or so.

I've hunted a lot of the area on the Utah side and while it will be for the better in the long run it is sad to see all those trees turned into matchsticks.

Hopefully they'll get it under control before too much longer

Almost 9,000 acres now and reports are it could reach Paradox, Co.

There are areas of the flattops that are nothing more than a tinder box waiting to go up in flames. Deadfall for miles in some places. ITs not a good situation. Without active timber management, this is mother natures way of taking care of things for sure.
