I use to work outside in stuff like that all winter long in northern Wisconsin. It can be pretty tough, but you got to do what you got to do.

Or, you could taste test about 9 different coffee flavors and stay inside. Personally I like working in the cold, as long as I can have my hands covered. The second I have to take my gloves off and apply my hands to metal it's not fun anymore.

You want brutal wind? Wyoming has it almost everyday. 30mph is a gentle breeze. We get hurricane force winds here, gusts over 100mph. Makes for pretty deep drifts.

lol. we're not quite to that extreme here but if the wind ain't blowing it's only cause it's catching its breath.

Bleh.. It was 6 degrees here this morning. Nothing like single digits in the midwest, with that humidity... That 'makes your bones hurt' cold!

It is supposed to be in the high 30's here this weekend, gonna hunt in t-shirts!

I worked in it for 40 years, the worst was the first few years that I worked as a electrician in the oil fields of Utah and Wyoming. We had to work all one night and a friends mom called him the next day and told him that our area was the coldest spot in the nation, his remark was "no shiiiit". The high temperature for 3 weeks was 20 below zero. We just dealt with it.

Now I look outside and see that it is cold I just put another pot of coffee on.

Jim is right...more coffee!

Last winter we didn't get much snow and is was not very cold here in SW Colo. We suffered for it too! No snow...no water. All the lakes were the lowest I've ever seen, irrigation water was rationed or shut off completely. Not a good situation for sure.

We are making up for it this winter. Been a foot of snow on the ground since Thanksgiving, pretty cold too so it does not melt. Should be a great year for hunting & fishing!

This cold causes some interesting situations:

Due to all the wind, I need to clear drifts with the tractor to keep our lane open. Tractor has a block heater and winter treated diesel; so far all that kit hasn't let me down. One of the tractor tires needed air this morning. So, I turned on the air compressor in my unheated shed and I heard this high pitched whistle. The valve on the chuck to the airline was frozen open. Pushing it on the tire stem or tapping it was to no use; the air kept gushing. What to do? So, I got the bright idea to hold the chuck in hot tractor exhaust. It worked. The heat unfroze it and I proceeded to top off the tire. [emoji38]

I had a hunt ruined in Ontario a few years back.
I prepared myself for the cold which was about 30 below at the time. But didn't think about my car. I got there after a 30 hour drive and was unable to start my car for 3 days. Had to build a tent over it with heaters to get it going again.
Saw a few wolf tracks but no chance at one.
Only got to hunt 1 day.

Hunting the Kiabab twice had the engine freeze up on he old Ford Falcon
station wagon. After that we learned to wake up and run the engine long
enough to get it to operating temp.(also warmed us Up)
