Good luck. I've seen a couple big bucks come out of the 3-5 units this year. Both killed a few miles off the roads where these guys pack in.

I hiked in through an x zone to get to the D3-5 zone I was in and I got up to 8500~ ft. there was some snow but no new tracks or droppings. The wind was ripping and then the rain began. I packed everything up and moved to lover elevation (6500~ 6000~)but the weather didn't change and no new tracks or sign. Just got back home and Im headed back out on thursday. Im not sure where to go now.

I heard the same thing from another guy. He said he thinks they moved down off the high country.

Where to go is another story. I have no idea. I have a D tag too and will probably eat it.

I'd start at 5000-6500 and get out on some trails. Then start looking on the other side of ridges and mountains along the trail. Who knows, sometimes you just gotta get out and then go with your gut feeling. Good luck!
