Custer National Forest

Has anyone hunted here? I'll be up in southeastern Montana the week of Thanksgiving and have some BMA land lined out for Monday-Wednesday but I'm looking for somewhere to hunt Nov. 22nd-24th. Any tips/pointers/advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm also open to any other suggestions for possible places to hunt if anyone out there has any. Thanks in advance for the help.

How did the hunt go? I have never hunted MT, but curious how your hunt went.

Used to be great hunting for mule deer on the forest land. It is still a fairly fun hunt, but the terribly long general season, crazy amount of doe permits, and unlimited rifle rut hunting has really hurt the deer numbers. Forest Fires also haven't helped much either, a lot of the escapement/cover has burned and thus the deer have less places to hide.

Interested to hear your perspective of the hunting there. I wish you would have hunted it 6 or 7 years ago to have something to compare it too though.
