Ok so I pulled this cow tag, and I have done a little research on this unit. I was wondering if anyone has spent some time there late Sep. Not looking for someone to tell me where to go, just had some questions. Like access, please don?t tell me I need a quad, how much weather will it take to get the elk down off the top.

Go north in the unit. Lots of cows.
You don’t need a quad, plenty of roads and trail heads where you can hike in.
Most of the crowds will be in the southern part. Also go east towards the Utah border, plenty of cows there too.

Good info from IKIC there. You will be able to glass a lot of country from the main roads on the East side. Shouldn't be too hard to find a cow, getting to them before they disappear is another thing. There probably will be little to no snow in late Sept.
