Trying to retrieve some info on cow elk. Is there any good areas that have leftover tags most years? Or how to find the past years list? Might just try to get a cow to put some good meat in the freezer! Thanks for any advice!

Find the elk area that you eventually want to hunt Bulls in. Try for a tag there, practice and scouting helps a lot.

I don't have a clue where I would go for a bull. I have three points, but no elk hunting experience yet. Figured we would go try our luck with some cows first. That is a great idea to scout for the future, just need to figure out where. Thanks!

The odds reports are a good indication of the public's perception of quality. Mark what you can draw then do some research.

There are several areas that have leftover type 6/7 tags every year. As WapitiBob said, take a look at the resident cow/calf draw odds from last year and you'll see what I mean. You need to be on the system right when they go on sale for some of the areas as they will go fast.
