Colorado Unit 40

Has anyone on here been able to hunt the archery hunt in CO unit 40? I drew this year and would love to hear other experiences. I am aware of the private land issues and look forward to the challenge. Thanks for any input.

shedhead, I live in unit 45 and have only been to Grand Junction a handful of times but according to the Colorado Parks and Wildlife elk statistics website there was a 49% chance of tagging out with a 23% chance of tagging a bull. I know that CFW does youth and womens hunt in that unit and there is generally a high success rate.

I know that the area that unit 40 is in gets very hot during the summer and fall (100 degrees) so I would start scouring a map for water sources and dense north slope cover. Good Luck!
