I am going on my first ever elk hunt in unit 12 later this month for the third rifle season. If I can tag a legal bull I would be thrilled. Anyone with some experience in the unit have some info that they could dm me regarding the lay of the land, what to expect, etc. Any info is helpful and appreciated

I t has been forty years since I hunted it. I had very good success on both mule deer and elk. I hunted the front part of Yellow Jacket pass across the canyon to the east. I killed several good deer and the largest 5x5 I have ever seen. He was satellite bull and another hunter killed herd bull, a good 6x6. I also hunted Allen Creek. Lots of elk in there back then.
