I have hunted there a few times and I can assure you that it is NOTHING like it once was. There are very few deer anymore and hardly any nice bucks. There are way too many lions and coyotes and the deer have never recovered since the winter of 08. Look at the units post hunt population estimates over the last 5 years and you will see that the situation in unit 10 is pretty sad. I wouldn't spend my points there and there are much better choices for a nice buck. I would check out the 4 th season tags that you could draw. You live right next to unit 30 so why not wait another year or two and get a third season tag there. Just my .02

Thanks, I am new to Colorado, so I am still trying to feel things out before I burn points. Thanks also for another unit to look at, I do appreciate input.

Unit 10........thats the Rio Blanco area in NW Colorado? A client of mine where I used to work hunted there about 6 years ago. They did well...........got 2 180" bucks, and one of them missed one even bigger. It got me into applying. I think I have like 3 PP's or something like that. Maybe 4. I forget! LOL

It will take a few years before I have a good amount of points.......but I take it look to a different unit? I dont need a super fancy unit.........I would be happy with 150" or better bucks. Hunting Wyo this fall, then maybe dakota, then I need to do an OTC archery elk hunt somewhere to practice up for using my Wyo elk PP's. Should have 5-6 by then.

good luck in the draws guys!
