I'm trying to decide which mountain goat unit to apply for. I've narrowed it down to G4, G7 & G16. These three units all boast high success rates and would be the closest units to where I live for easier scouting. I'm not overly concerned with trophy quality and would gladly take either a billy or nanny... although I'd prefer a billy (they all kinda look the same to me). I'll be using either rifle or muzzleloader. I'm sitting on 10 points total so drawing is starting to become a real possibility. Any experience or opinions about these units would be appreciated! They are probably very similar and would offer a great hunt. Just need to make up my mind!

I've helped a couple of friends get goats in 7 and it is a relatively easy hunt. I got my goat in 15 a few years ago and would not recommend that unit anymore because they basically cleaned them out of there.

I have been on 4 goat hunts in unit 7 and 1 goat hunt in unit 4. Unit 7 has really good access from a few locations. I killed one there back in 1994 with 9" horns. My dad killed a 9 5/8" goat there a few years ago. Unit 4 has good access as well but you have to be careful of the restrictions off the Mount Evans highway. I too have 10 points and plan on applying for unit 7 again. Good luck and let me know if you indeed draw the tag.

Thanks for the reply's guy's... I had to get my apps in today as I'm running out of time and will be working a ton the next couple weeks. Hate waiting to the last minute too. Always afraid of a crash or something crazy happening and missing out! I decided to go with G16. It was a toss up between that and G7. I don't think there's a bad choice here. Probably won't draw anyway...

I honestly don't think there was a bad decision between the three. Good luck to ya and let us know if you draw. I am going with G7 so I'm crossing my fingers.
