Well we just returned to Ga. after a 10 day bow hunt in the San Juan Mountains.
The weather was a little warm to start with but rain had the elk talking and moving pretty good.
We called a nice 6x6 in on the first morning to 45 yards but I did not have a clear shot to his vitals. The bull hung around for 20 min's in the thick timber only to catch our wind . The game was up.
We heard a lot of bugles that day and the next day. Then the heat wave came through, I never expected almost 90 degree weather at 10000 feet. The elk shut down after that.
We had a great time with friends, hunting is such a blessing to get away from it all. I had a bear walk to 7 yards on me at lunch one day . I guess honey bun is not a good choice in bear woods ! The bear was big and a chocolate color, it was very beautiful.
We are already planning next year.
Godd luck to all still out there and God Bless.
