Not looking for any "honey holes" or anything just some general info if anybody has knowledge of the area. Is the northern or southern areas have more public access? Any suggestions on a "decent" hotel to stay at? Anybody kill any big bucks and/or bulls in the unit the last couple of years that you care to share a story about?

The northern area has more public access compared to the southern end, but the southern end is just as big and there is still plenty to hunt. We have killed a few over the years. What season are you hunting ?

As far as a hotel it would work out much better to camp on the mountain.

camejas,

If you are looking for muleys I would hunt the middle to southern parts of the Unc. The deer population is way down and the elk are doing well. You can find elk, but by 3rd season they will be very pressured are hard to dig out. Good luck with your hunts.
