Hey guys,

I am looking ahead to 2016 for a CO mule deer hunt. I will have 3 NR preference points at that time and I am looking for a 3rd or 4th season rifle unit. I have a friend who lives in unit 18 and he suggested 18/28/37/371, which I should be able to draw a 4th season tag in. I have hunted unit 18 for elk and did not see many mule deer where I was at, so I want to make sure I will be making the most of my points. While 3 points isn't a bunch, I would like to get out to CO again and try my hand with mulies sooner rather than later. Any advice on this area or other options with 3 NR PP's is certainly appreciated. Good luck to everyone starting archery season...here in MN it will be starting soon!

I've hunted 28 several times for archery elk. Never saw much for mule deer if any that I can remember. I'm sure I did but nothing that caught my attention. I hunted mostly above timberline from 11,000 to 12,300.

The 2016 CO deer season will be a tough year to draw a good tag. The season dates are set on a 5 year rotation and 2016's 3rd and 4th season are prime "late" dates. In the past when this happened units took 1 to 3 or more points to draw from the year before. There will be a application frenzy in 2016 so apply accordingly.
