Don't know how many of you keep up with military arms, but the CMP (Civilian Marksmanship Program) has M1 Carbines available in a limited number. I just sent off my application this am. They are $685 for service grade & 625 for field grade. Pretty good price for something that is fun to shoot. If I get one, it is going in my truck as a truck gun. It will have a 30 round mag and shoots pretty fair out to 150 to 200 yds. CMP.com

CC, you should get two one for your truck and the other for the 9n Ford tractor. You never know you might see a coyote while out for a ride or mowing!

They are a fun and handy package for sure. It was my Dads favorite firearm, and he was not really a shooter or a hunter, but he loved his M-1.

Too bad you most likely missed out. They received 5000 orders on Monday and only had 1000 rifles. The north store had 100 people in line for 30 rifles Thursday morning when they opened at 8:30

You are probably right. I overlooked the requirement that my signature on the app had to be notarized. I saw that too late Friday to get it done until Monday. Sent it overnight, was rec'd 11:00 AM Tuesday. The only good thing is that they keep the app for future releases.
