This group is restarting the process again to get cat hunting shut down. They want it to stop it in 15 states that allow hunting. Emotions over data imo.

My friend got this email.

Just received this email from Colorado Cats Aren't Trophies. They are determined to end MT lion hunting in Colorado and the other 15 states that allow hunting of Mt. Lions and bobcats.
From Cats " I am talking about April 23, when CATs will host a webinar at noon, mountain time. Virtual. You are invited! It’s our six-month check-in, a State-of-the-State of CATs, if you will\\

The last time we all got together was right after the election. Since then, we’ve continued our work without interruption. Our goal is to stop the needless trophy hunting and commercial trapping of our native wildlife cats.

So many winning efforts take perseverance, and that’s what I am seeing with our thousands of supporters across Colorado. I am heartened that the commitment for stopping cruel, unsporting trophy hunting and commercial trapping practices runs deep. Claws out.

We know that in the months leading up to the November 2024 election, there was a big-money campaign of deception and confusion. There were more than a few people who thought they were supposed to vote “NO” in order to end trophy hunting. When they should have voted Yes on 127. Which takes me back to the webinar next week. Join us. The panel of experts includes Pat Craig, Wayne Pacelle, Katie Dolan, Marlon Reis, Delia Malone, Rebecca Niemiec, Ph.D and Melinda Marquis, Ph.DWe’ll update you on how we animal advocates are participating in Colorado Parks and Wildlife meetings like never before. But also to look ahead.

The webinar is called “A Carnivore Crisis in Colorado” because not only are lions and bobcats being inhumanely baited, trapped, hounded and shot for the glory of the weakest of the human species, but wolves are in the crosshairs too. And there are also problems with how our state is handling its black bears.

Lastly, please take a moment to read my latest related oped in the April 1 Daily Camera: Opinion: Julie Marshall: We must undo the anti-predator paradigm in Colorado

When trophy hunters advocate for killing our most majestic species, we say we must protect them for their own sake and for the vast majority of Coloradans who choose our state precisely because of its wild inhabitants.

They stoke fear; we work to foster respect.

They act out of personal interest, we act because of ironclad moral principles.

They show intolerance, and we recognize that we are not the only species on the planet. Predators are essential actors in our ecoystems, not invaders
