14 day limit in one spot . Then you have to move. BLM site doesn't tell you how far you have to move. Talked with a Wyoming warden about campfire , he said that is regulated by county and to check with county personal before heading out.

With BLM it's just about anywhere you want to camp. With the National Forest it's designated camp grounds. Extractor is correct on the 14 day limit. BLM is free...NF is a fee area.

Not true for all NF's, as each one makes their own rules. Some even break up their NF areas into different eareas which can have different rules for each one. Here the San Juan NF lets you camp almost anywhere within 100' of their numbered roads and no fee. 14 day rule applies. The only ones with fees are the improved campgrounds with designated spots, rest rooms, etc.
You should check with the NF office nearest where you are hunting for their rules. They can change also depending on local conditions such as fire hazards.
Are you sure about that? We camp in all the national forests around here in non-designated sites and no fees. Must be a local rule but I looked and haven't been able to find it.

Most National Forest allows dispersed camping, camp where you want, but you still have the time limit.
