Just scored on the Bighorn 3 tent in Cabelas bargain cave. Got it for $438, its normal price is $899. I also got a great deal on the floor liner and roof protector. I'll set it up this weekend and give a review if anybody is interested....

I was trying to decide between the Bighorn 3 and the Alaknak 12'x20'. I decided to buy the Alaknak when it hit a sale, but the Bighorn deal was too good to pass up.

I am looking at those 2 tents myself (Alaknak, and Bighorn) Woodtick, what do you like or dislike about your bighorn? They are both close in price, and I have heard they fixed the problem on the Bighorn with the wall being to close to the stove. A review would be great arwaterfowler, Thanks in advance.

That's one thing about the Cabelas here in Reno, it doesn't have a bargain cave section. Really wish they did! They have clearance stuff but not the big section that most stores have.

It's still fairly close to the wall but after 3 years of fairly solid use September through December It has held up nicely. It over exceeded my expectations and then some. The down fall is you can only get two guys with cots and a small card table in the tent with the stove. I have the vestibule and a couple years ago I had six guys sleeping in there. Only one was on a cot. The tent is a giant pain to set up the 1st time but now I can set it up in 30 minutes by myself. If you want any more specifics I'd be more than happy to help.

I probably will have some questions after I set it up this weekend. Thanks for the help.

I have this tent too. With the stove, 3 guy's on cots are all you'll want in there at one time! It's much better with only 2 guy's. My wife and I throw the aero bed in there with a kid or two on cots when we're camping (without stove). Works pretty slick! The vestibule is a must have to me. I think you'll be happy with it.

CoHiCntry What cots are you using? I can only get two Cabela's full size cots in there.
That brings up another good question. Is it worth spending the money on a nice cot or would the cheaper one from the military surplus work just as well?

I was thinking of getting the Alaskan Guide cos with the vertical rack. Seems like it would be nice to have the extra organization of the rack and the side pockets.

I'd shy away from from those vertical racks in the bighorn, the walls are not completely vertical and they won't work well. i watched Cabela's and got the Alaskan guide for half price and a nice pad. It's almost as nice as my bed.

A nice foam mat is awesome on the cots. I found the same foam in those $80 bed rolls at Fred Meyers for $15. I just put a twin fitted sheet over the cot to keep it clean.

I'm not sure the brand name? They aren't all the same brand either. I know one of them has the Bass Pro Shops brand on it. Since the stove takes up one wall, I line the other 3 walls with cots. They go head to toe and fit pretty tight but it works fine. 2 on the opposite side the stoves on and 1 on the same side as the stove.

Interesting I can only get two of my Cabela's cots in mine. I can only fit one on the opposite side of the stove, there to long to fit two of them.

I took my tent on a three day turkey hunt in NW Nebraska a couple weekends ago. I got in LATE on Friday. Had to set up in the dark. To my surprise it only took about 15 minutes, but I was on the hustle. I got hammered with 6 inches of snow and 25 mph winds on Sunday. The tent did great. I had to pound a couple stakes in after a few hours of the storm, but that wasn't the tents fault. The ground got very soggy, any stake with tension will want to move a bit.

I too see an issue with getting two cots to line up on the left side of the tent. I got the Cabelas Alaskan Guide cot and the eyeball test tells me I'll have to figure something out. I definitely will be purchasing the vestibule when it goes on sale. Thanks for the pics woodtick!
