out scouting for deer and you should have heard the bulls talkin. watched several heards of elk (25-75 per group) and the bulls were talkin and moving cows around a lot more than i had expected this time of year. fun to watch thats for sure...
Also had reports of the high country of CO and talking bulls. Nothing rut like but still cool to hear them talking already with two weeks to the opener.
? The rag horn's with the cow's have been talking for about 2 week's now. idk about big bull's going after cow's in velvet. Bull's hormones kick in and that's what creates the burr and lead's up 2 stopping antler growth. Those bull's should be out of velvet then? weird i haven't herd of any bull's being out of velvet except for the farm grown ones? idk
I was going to ask the same thing antler-man01. All of the bulls around here are still in velvet, I was thinking the rut would be late this year in my part of the country. I hope I'm wrong, I get to start hunting in 3 days.
A buddy of mine watched a small 6 point bull today with 50 cows half heartedly running them around and he's all polished up today in RMNP. Will hopefully look at some bigger more mature bulls this weekend and see what they are doing.
